Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show

The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show will be in full bloom from March 30 to April 3, 2011 at the world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens.

Attracting more than 100,000 visitors, the 16th annual flower and garden show is the biggest in the southern hemisphere, boasting more than 500 exhibitors showcasing innovative products and services for the green thumb and outdoor living and design enthusiast. The show features the best landscape and floral talent that Australia has to offer alongside an extensive array of garden retail products, delicious food and great entertainment for all ages. The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show is a celebration of Australian lifestyle and our great outdoors.

The Show is rated among the top 5 garden shows in the world.

As the official sponsor of the Children’s Garden, Disney is waving its wand over the garden creating an amazing fairy wonderland. The Disney Fairies Children’s Garden will keep kids entertained for hours with great activities such as face painting, pot-a-plant, animal petting zoo and art stations.

Disney is also providing an escape from the hustle and bustle of the Show with a quiet reading corner under the shade of a tree. Children and parents can sit on large comfy cushions and read various Disney story books in peace.     

Some of the highlights at this year’s show include:

Landscape designer Christian Jenkins introduces his ‘Scandinavian Woodland’ inspired design with the help of award winning florist Paul Mobbs.

Daniel Piper uses timber and limestone in new ways in his stunning landscape design.

Colour and fun inside the Great Hall of Flowers with the Growers Avenue and floral masterpieces from some of Australia’s best florists.

As well as gardens there will be an open exhibition and sale of garden sculptures, organised by the Association of Sculptors of Victoria, which will take place in the Carlton Gardens in the Central Boulevard. Sculptures priced from a few hundred dollars to several thousands will be for sale.
